Yes, I am licensed to practice in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia, Canada, which means I can only work with those residing in these provinces. Specifically, I hold the title of Registered Social Worker with the license number #832043.
All sessions take place virtually via a platform that is compliant with both HIPAA and PHIPA regulations.
Research suggests that addressing acute symptoms like general stress and anxiety typically requires a minimum of 15 to 20 sessions for significant improvement. For more complex, chronic issues like processing childhood trauma, the number of sessions can vary widely, ranging from 30 to 150. In my own practice, I've found that clients who see the most meaningful transformations are those who commit to a therapeutic journey lasting 1-2 years or more. It's crucial for anyone considering therapy to be fully aware of this commitment, both emotionally and financially.
When you join the waitlist, you can expect to be contacted to schedule your initial consultation within a 4-6 week window. This first meeting initiates an intake process that typically spans three sessions. If your concerns align with my expertise, we will then identify a recurring weekly or bi-weekly time slot that best suits your needs. Note: If issues arise during the intake process that fall outside my scope of practice, I may recommend a referral to a more specialized clinician to ensure you receive the care you truly need.
At select times, I have a few spots available for completely free sessions for those who experience financial hardship. You can submit your name to the probono waitlist here. Note, I do not expect to be able to take a probono client until fall 2024. Please reach out to a therapist on Psychology Today if you are in need of therapeutic support.
